Over the years Knud E. Hansen A/S has attained a high expertise in the fields of stability calculation and engineering, which has grown out of projects involving stability solutions and upgrading of existing vessels and research projects in co-operation with national authorities and the IMO.
  
Structural Calculations
Our Extensive experience and the use of state-of-the-art computer tools enable us to offer almost any type of structural calculation. Linear and non-linear problems are solved with equal ease - such as large deformations and contact problems.
We have also refined the art of producing finite element models from a set of drawings so that we are now able to offer very short pre-processing times.
   
Vibration problems
Ship designers are often concerned with the vibration levels in ship structures. Our experience in this field has taught us how to dimension structures so as to avoid excessive vibration. Structures are checked with respect to forced vibrations and natural frequencies.
 
Materials
As we combine in-depth knowledge of shipbuilding materials with extensive structural design experience, we can give you invaluable assistance in choosing the right materials for your project - steel, welded aluminium or composites.
Composites - the materials of the future - have many applications and are highly weight-saving. As fibre-composites are normally brittle, correct dimensioning is critical. We have the experience and know-how to help you find the optimum solution.
  
Welding
Very small tolerances are necessary to achieve both high productivity and high-quality assembly. Dimensional predictability is consequently extremely important for welding in shipbuilding and any other industry. To help our customers stay ahead of the competition, we can provide welding tables, lists and procedure specifications, welded joint design, and specialist assistance to remedy welding distortion.
