Knud E. Hansen A/S Establishes Australian Office

Leading naval architectural design and engineering firm Knud E. Hansen A/S of Denmark announces the establishment of a subsidiary design company Knud E. Hansen Australia Propriety Limited in PerthWestern Australia.

Ken Goh, the General Manager of Knud E. Hansen Australia Pty Ltd, commented that “Perth, in resource richWestern Australia and home to the North West Shelf offshore oil and gas industry, is one of the fastest growing cities in the developed world.  With a cosmopolitan culture, good infrastructure and a time difference of only six hours from Western Europe, Perth was a natural choice”.  Recently a Forbes report, listed Perth as one of the ten World Capitals of the future.

Knud E. Hansen A/S is highly regarded around the world for its expertise and excellence in offshore and marine design including ferry, Ro-pax, Ro-Ro and other merchant vessels since its inception over 70 years ago.  One of the primary goals of the Perth office will be to catalyze the growth of local naval design capability so that an increasing amount of the engineering work can be undertaken in Australia instead of overseas.  There is growing recognition from the Australian Government of the importance of up-skilling local capability.

The company has in recent years emerged as a leading designer of special purpose ships, such as the offshore construction vessel M/V Resolution, the world’s first jack-up ship designed specifically for installing wind turbines offshore.  The opening of the Perth office, combined with Knud E. Hansen A/S’s other offices around the world, further strengthens the company’s strategic position as a leading naval design partner, ready to meet the future offshore engineering challenges as the world turns increasingly to the oceans for further sustainable economic development.
