And we’re proud to have contributed to its development.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2025 at the Spanish shipyard Construcciones Navales P. Freire, S.A., with completion expected in autumn 2027.
Developed by KNUD E. HANSEN in consortium with OMT, Dana V is a next-generation Arctic research vessel designed to support multidisciplinary scientific work, including fisheries, climate, biodiversity, geology, and the marine environment. The extensive design package—including structural design, naval architecture, and detailed interior design in 3D and VR—has been approved in principle by Bureau Veritas.
The 70-meter Dana V is designed with silent propulsion and minimal bubble sweep-down to ensure precise hydroacoustic measurements. It will be equipped with advanced laboratories for biological and chemical analysis, systems for handling underwater, trawl, and container-based equipment, and integrated sustainable energy solutions. With a high ice class notation, the vessel is prepared for operations from the Baltic Sea to the Arctic.
