At the 14th Symposium on High-Performance Marine Vehicles – “Technologies for the Ship of the Future” Kenneth Goh received the “Hansa Maritime Innovator” award for his continuing research into wind propulsion that KNUD E. HANSEN first started 25 years prior.
The new concept uses the companies high-lift wing sails on a proa configuration with a main hull and outrigger that could be sailing by 2030. The paper explored the main advantages and technical challenges of the proa and introduces the REPAS (Renewable Energy Power Autonomous Ship) concept due to the equal significance of solar power that the platform allows. The concept promises fuel and CO2 savings well above the 50% reduction set by the IMO for 2050.
