KNUD E. HANSEN has received the Shippax RoRo Award 2026 for the design of GRANDE SHANGHAI, developed in close collaboration with Grimaldi Group.

The award recognises GRANDE SHANGHAI as a milestone in PCTC design, reducing fuel consumption per transported CEU by up to 50% through a combination of sustainable technologies including a battery pack, shore power connection, ammonia-readiness and a silicon-based hull coating.

GRANDE SHANGHAI was the first of ten ammonia-ready PCTC vessels for the Grimaldi Group fleet, carrying the Ammonia Ready class notation from RINA — allowing for future conversion to ammonia as a zero-carbon fuel.
