Canada’s new Multi-Purpose Vessels will support the Canadian Coast Guard in a broad range of year-round operations, including search and rescue, environmental response, icebreaking, scientific research, and maritime security. Designed to operate in both coastal and ice-covered waters, the vessels will replace the current fleet of High and Medium Endurance Multi-Tasked Vessels.

Built by Seaspan Shipyards under Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, up to six MPVs are planned.
