Ordered by P&O Irish Sea of the United Kingdom, the 20,606 grt vessel was built by Mitsubishi, Shimonoseki Shipyard, Japan, and delivered in July 2000. The vessel was designed as an efficient and fast RoPax vessel for operation on the Irish Sea on the Northern Corridor between Scotland and Northern Ireland. She has capacity for 410 passengers and 375 cars.
