The vessel was designed for and built by Nystad Varv, Finland. The vessel was delivered as M/V Lindblad Explorer in 1969 and was the first real purpose-built Expedition Cruise Vessel. The vessel is operated by Abercrombie & Kent for expedition cruises worldwide.
