Designed for Stena Offshore, Sweden, the vessel was built at Öresundsvarvet in Sweden and delivered in June 1980. Deep Constructor is now operated by Technip UK and is fitted out as a deep water pipe layer and multipurpose subsea construction vessel.
Since the initial delivery, KNUD E. HANSEN has been involved in numerous conversions and refits of both this vessel and her sister ships as their roles have evolved over time.
